How It Works
Stircor’s drying systems combine advanced thermal design with precise material handling to deliver consistent, high-quality dried biosolids. Below is a closer look at the engineering features that set our technology apart:
Biosolids Feed System
The process begins with a precision-controlled feed system capable of metering 10–15 tons per hour of wet biosolids at 75–80% moisture content, ensuring consistent throughput and optimal dryer performance.
Direct-Fired Parallel Flow Dryer
At the core of the system is a direct-fired, parallel-flow dryer engineered to remove moisture rapidly and efficiently. This configuration offers the best heat-transfer efficiency available for biosolids applications, allowing the material and hot gases to travel in the same direction. The result:
- Stable thermal profiles
- Reduced risk of overheating
- Consistent Class A dryness in a single pass
Venturi Scrubbing System
As moisture evaporates, exhaust air passes through a Venturi scrubber designed to meet some of the most stringent particulate emissions standards. This system also incorporates odor elimination capability, making it suitable for facilities located near neighborhoods or sensitive areas.
Dried Material Discharge & Cooling
Dried material exits the system as a uniform, granular product that improves flowability and reduces storage and transport challenges. An optional cooling stage can be integrated prior to loadout to prevent auto-ignition and ensure safe handling.
Centralized PLC Monitoring and Controls
All system functions — from feed control to air handling to discharge temperature — are managed through a single PLC-driven control hub. Operators benefit from automated safety interlocks, real-time performance data, and comprehensive process tracking.
